Curriculum

Every child is an individual, and is treated as such. Each term we make a list of aims for each child, based on the previous term's achievements and observations.

These aims, with each child's record cards, are available for parents. Each child has a notebook, which is used by staff and parents to monitor progress.

The Lighthouse sessions and the environment are structured in such a way that all the areas of the curriculum are linked and taught throughout the session.

Our Approach

The Lighthouse is Montessori based. We have a wide range of Montessori apparatus, which is extended and renewed regularly.

We implement much of the Montessori philosophy, but believe that in rural Oxfordshire in the 21st century we must also incorporate other ideas.
